In loving memory of Karen Raine

In June 2017 we recieved the devastating news that the pain in Mum’s back was not a trapped nerve but rather the cancer had returned - this time metastising to the bones. It was terminal.

Mum started another tussel with cancer - trying a range of drugs, chemotheraphies, radiotheraphy, nerve blockers, blood transfusions... to name a few. It wasn’t easy - she was often in accute pain and periods of very little mobility. Yet she continued with such incredible strength and courage - remaining positive and cracking jokes until the last days.

Mums 4 year battle was not all negative. The illness made Mum and all of us closest to her truly focus on what is inportant in life - as cliche as it may be - spending tome together and creating memorirs to truly last a lifetime. We are so very gratefil to have had this time together and to be with mum every step of the way. Mum also got to be here for the birth and first year of her first Grandaughter (Isabelle). Who without a doubt bought more joy and happiness into Mum’s life than anyone or anything else possibly could.

Following wonderful treatment from Macmillian and the District Nurses at home, Mum went to St John’s hospice for her last 9 days. Here she was treated with such incredible kindness and compassion from from staff and passed conpletely at peace and painfree with dad by her side on Sunday 25th April 2021.

Rest In Peace Mum. We love and miss you more than words could ever do justice.
